Trichomonas Vaginalis
and Chlamydia are representative sexually-transmitted
diseases (STD) that show no distinguishable symptoms,
and 170 million and 92 million people respectively are
infected by these diseases worldwide. (WHO, 1999)
Since, unlike other diseases, there are no apparent symptoms,
more than 10% of infection is caused by sexually open
tendencies (developed countries) or lack of sense of sanitation
(under-developed countries). They also cause ectopic pregnancy,
infertility or other gynecological and obstetrical problems
during pregnancy such as premature birth and under-weight
in newborns, even influencing offspring, thus their ripple
effects are increasing. It is expected that 20 billion
US dollars will be spent on medical expenses of these
diseases worldwide.
HDr has been consistently working in the field of medicine
and medical device business, maintaining business relationships
with Yonsei University Wonju college of medicine and college
of health science, Yonsei University. Over several years,
HDr has accumulated research findings on Trichomonas Vaginalis,
publishing them in academic journals specializing in the
area, and on the basis of this technology and know-how,
HDr, in this study, has developed a testing kit that can
detect Trichomonas Vaginalis and Chlamydia simultaneously.
|
| |
|
 |
 |
- almost no testing
kit in the world can detect two different infectious organisms
that have different sizes and features simultaneously.
Therefore, the capacity of multiple detection can boost
added-value to the kits and expand its related market
effectively.
- through this study, a rapid detection kit for both Trichomonas Vaginalis and Chlamydia has been developed, enabling related market formation and prior occupation.
-monoclonal antibodies against Trichomonas Vaginalis,
the intermediate product of this research, can be used
in a commercial purpose and also for academic research
on Trichomonas Vaginalis as well. |

Specificity of rapid detection kit for Trichomonas Vaginalis :
In order to find out the specificity of the manufactured
test kits, clinical tests have been performed. 100งก of
PCR amplified 496 testing bodies previously determined
negative was |
| loaded
onto the examination window. In the result of this study,
only 6 bodies were determined to be false positive, marking
98.8% specificity. |
